Vice President ZHEN Liang Visits Russia and Kazakhstan to Promote Regional University Cooperation

From June 4 to 11, Vice President ZHEN Liang led a delegation to visit universities including Saint Petersburg State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Aviation Institute in Russia and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan. During the visits, ZHEN Liang exchanged views on joint programs, discussed partnership and project details, introduced HIT international education programs and explored future cooperation opportunities. Furthermore, ZHEN Liang had an official meeting with Mrs WANG Wenli, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in St. Petersburg and Mrs ZHONG Hua, Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Almaty.

During the meetings, ZHEN Liang emphasized HIT's commitment to leveraging its international cooperation advantages. He highlighted the university's continuous efforts to enhance both its "coming to HIT" and "going abroad" initiatives. He mentioned that HIT has been motivated to deepen cooperation with top universities in diverse fields. He hoped that HIT looked into the all-round cooperation with universities at greater levels of engagement based on the platforms such as the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities, the Sino-Russian Joint Campus and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

During the visit to Saint Petersburg State University, two parties signed a cooperation agreement to establish a joint research center. The delegation also discussed the cultivation details of the first group of enrolled students of joint programs of mathematics and applied mathematics, applied physics and chemistry. HIT and Lomonosov Moscow State University signed the agreement on Nominating HIT Outstanding Undergraduates to pursue Master's Degrees at Lomonosov Moscow State University. At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, two parties signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the joint establishment of the Sino-Kazakh International Law and Comparative Law Research Center. Furthermore, the meeting between HIT and Bauman Moscow State Technical University centered on optimizing the international cooperative education projects in environmental and ecological engineering. Two parties also addressed the promotion of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities, facilitation of two-way visiting projects for teachers, and bilateral academic exchanges between China and Russia for doctoral degree students and post doctors. These efforts aim to foster the deep integration of high-quality educational resources. ZHEN Liang engaged in discussions with Moscow Aviation Institute regarding joint training, academic exchanges and other relevant cooperation. He also had the opportunity to interact with HIT international students of Moscow Aviation Institute.

The visit is accompanied by delegates from International Cooperation Division, School of Energy Science and Engineering, School of Mathematics and School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Law.
